About Mimi Harvey
Mimi Harvey is a painter and stone sculptor who currently has her home and studio in Asheville NC. She has sold hundreds of her works, which are now in private collections throughout the United States and in Europe, Africa and Japan. Many works are commissioned to enhance the decor of homes, and she is often asked to complement the colors of the environments in which her art is displayed. She has studied under Adolf Konrad and Raymond Thorley, two acclaimed New Jersey artists, and she has studied at the Art Students League in New York.
Her professional career began in 1979 when she was named manager of the Creative Blacksmith Gallery in New Hope, PA. In 1982 she became manager of the Amedeo Gallery in New Hope, owned by artist and sculptor Amedeo Ferri. In 1988, she began teaching art privately to adults and children.
Ms. Harvey’s recent work includes more than 25 prints of animals -- ranging from whimsical themes such as "Cats in Hats" to biblical themes such as "Noah’s Ark" to more realistic cat and dog art. Some of her original paintings, including watercolor and acrylic florals as well as framed prints are available at the Grove Corner Market, 77l Haywood Rd., Asheville, N.C.
Over 60 greeting cards are available online or at:
Michael and Mary Folds, Managers at the Corner Post, are also her art representatives. An album of examples of Mimi's originals, prints, and sculptures can be viewed in their store as well as more biographical material.
Mimi is adding a line of pet photo greeting cards. You can email or phone her for prices and details.
One of Mimi's cat paintings will be featured in a TV series in Spring 2010 starting March 10 on the Starz network. The painting was purchased by a former customer and is hanging in her Manhatten apartment where the series is being filmed. It is important to the series since it looks exactly like the cat also appearing in the series and is one of several pieces of Mimi's art, including a sculpture, which the former customer and her mother bought when Mimi was manager and artist/sculptor in residence at the Amedeo gallery, New Hope, PA. Contact Mimi directly for details.
Her large prints, "Noah’s Ark" and "Peace on Earth", are available in numbered and signed limited editions. Mimi had a one man show for six months in 2008-2009 in downtown Asheville and two of her paintings were shown in the gallery of the Asheville Airport for three months in 2008-2009. She is presently working on a line of dog greeting cards and is writing and illustrating children's books. Mimi works in all media: acrylic, oil, watercolor and pastel. She accepts a wide range of commissions.
